In Part 1 of this series, I talked about my overall impressions of the Switch and its place in the spectrum of “home console” versus “handheld” gaming system. Part 2 covered some more detail about the ingenious Joy Con controllers as well as the Pro Controller, and the different modes of play that the system supports. In this part I will focus on the software, both the main system software as well as some games. I will leave discussion of the flagship Zelda game for its own post.

For the past decade at least, I’ve been a “gamer” in so much as I always play the new Zelda and Mario games when they are released, but that’s pretty much it. So the release of a new AAA game in either of those franchises is a pretty seismic event as far as I’m concerned.
